Meet Team Timely
(Adam Camp, Nicole Sundberg, Alex Cespedes, Ethan Emoto, David Dursteler)
ADAM CAMP
A diverse set of experiences in sales and education has marked Adam's career path. However, his true passion lies in engineering and design, which led him to return to school and pursue computer science. Equipped with a keen eye for aesthetics and a dedication to creating visually stunning work, Adam is always eager to delight and inspire through his designs.
Beyond his professional interests, Adam has a deep-seated curiosity about others and their thought processes, which fuels his desire to understand and connect with people. As part of the capstone project Timely, he gained valuable experience in multi-environment development, team collaboration, and software development, sharpening his skills and expanding his knowledge.
Looking ahead, Adam is eager to join a company that values creativity, innovation, and a strong work ethic as he takes the next step in his career journey. When he's not working, Adam enjoys spending time in the mountains with his dog Indie, indulging in paranormal horror movies, and occasionally embracing his lazier side.
ALEX CESPEDES
Alex Cespedes is a computer science major at the University of Utah and will be graduating in May 2023. Alex has always been intrigued by the challenge and the growing opportunities that come with computer science. Throughout their time at the U, Alex has been a part of multiple projects including the creation of: a Tank Wars game, an online spreadsheet, and most importantly the Timely capstone project. This final capstone project has helped them gain the skills necessary to pursue success within the field as they become a part of the field very soon. He currently is a teaching assistant for COMP 1010 and has been a TA for the past 2 years. Alex really enjoys interacting with students and helping them learn important concepts as they begin their journey into computer science. In his free time, Alex either finds himself playing his favorite video games or Latin dancing with his team.
DAVID DURSTELER
David is a versatile professional with over a decade of experience in programming. He is currently a member of the Theory in Practice research group at the University of Utah, a teaching assistant, and a member of the Timely undergraduate senior capstone group. As a member of the Theory in Practice group he researches advanced problems involving graphs, recently working on using machine learning to identify cliques/clusters in gene co-expression networks. As a teaching assistant, he has worked in both C++ and Java helping students learn better programming practices such as unit testing, using Docker, or having cleaner code. As a member of his undergraduate capstone group, Timely, he has taken the role of being a group leader or senior engineer, taking the lead in doing the vast majority of code reviews and helping to integrate disparate parts of the system.
In his free time, David enjoys doing things such as pondering about creating asynchronous system calls so that he can use C++ coroutines in a memory allocator, setting up a used enterprise-grade server unit, or playing Minecraft. He also loves talking, so ask him about any of these things and he'll likely talk your ear off and enjoy hearing your perspective.
ETHAN EMOTO
Ethan Emoto is a student at the University of Utah pursuing an Honors Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics. He is a member of the capstone team Timely, and is not currently affiliated with other projects or research groups. Ethan has previously worked as a computer science TA for a semester, but has been employed as a tutor for the UofU’s school of computing for the past two years. He has also interned at Amazon with a team working on S3 in AWS. Ethan’s main fields of interest in computer science are machine learning and computer graphics. Beyond professional interests, his hobbies include origami, video games, and playing the trumpet. He has been a member of the UofU’s marching band for the past four years.
NICOLE SUNDBERG
Nicole Sundberg is a student at the University of Utah majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Games while also pursuing a master's degree in Computer Science. She is not currently involved in any other project or research opportunities but works for the Kahlert School of Computing as both a teaching assistant and tutor.  She enjoys teaching and helping early undergraduate students to feel more confident in their studies and abilities.
Nicole is interested in a variety of hobbies including creating and playing video games, working on electronics projects, and making or playing music. She takes great joy in her studies and is excited to continue learning at the University of Utah. In her free time, you would likely find Nicole excitedly talking about video games, music, or books that she has recently discovered.
